Last Tuesday…..The Notorious Google Panda or Penguin Update Got Me! Again!

Well, I haven’t spoken to you about my niche site because I want your attention to be on building your Ebay and Amazon business(es). I am starting to believe my niche site, portablewasherdryercombo.com got hit by some sort of Panda or Penguin update. Look at the daily “Impressions (The number of times pages from your site appeared in search results, and the percentage increase/decrease in the daily average impressions compared to the previous period.)” chart below:

portable-drop

You cannot tell me that some “algorithm” didn’t have an impact on my site. A similar drop occurred in April or May 2012, but I deserved to be hit then. This time, though, I did not pay for any links at all. Even so, the site has a ton of SEO issues.  Still, I have not paid for links since the spring of 2012. A few others link to me and I need to notify them to drop the links as they could be considered spammy links. If possible, I want all links to my site to be organic/natural. What’s funny is Bing’s report (see below):

bing_portablewasher

My site received a good bump in “Appeared In Search” (appearances Bing’s Search Engine) over the past month, but, dropped in Google’s search results. Interesting…

You know, I stopped paying attention to this site for several months and it started ranking somewhat well for several keyword phrases. Granted, the content on the site is horrendous, but it would make me some money (Amazon commissions) every now and then. I’m devoting more time to it with the hopes that it will resurface in its rankings for several keyword phrases. I figure if it successfully recovered from the last penguin/panda update, I’m believing that it will do it again. I won’t panic….I won’t freak out….I won’t fall into despair or go crazy by trying to blast the site with links….I’ll just be cool and calm….periodically add some good content and see or “watch” what Google thinks. This is not about “crossing my fingers” hoping things will turn around, but being proactive in my approach to restoring glory back to portablewasherdryercombo.com.

From wikipedia, Google Panda updates are aimed at decreasing search engine rankings of websites that violate Google’s Webmaster Guidelines by using now declared black-hat SEO techniques, such as keyword stuffing, cloaking, participating in link schemes, deliberate creation of duplicate content, and others. Google Penguin updates are an attempt to penalize websites using manipulative techniques to achieve high rankings.

What it basically means is that GOOGLE wants to protect is revenue stream…..Google key word search .does not want it to become redundant…. thanks to key word stuffing and the likes techniques.

I think it to an exact match domain penalty that got it. I won’t panic, though…..I’ll be patient and see what happens.

Well they better be extra careful.

I’d be worried if they weren’t strict, they have a TON of personal information.

Seems like Google is constantly making changes and tweaking things in their policies that cause unforeseen drops like this.

Yes, they continue to do so…but for the overall good. Unfortunately, some “good” sites will get caught in their web, but with patience, the sites should bounce back.
